Najib : Vernacular schools here to stay (12/10/15)….

KUALA LUMPUR: It is not Barisan Nasional’s policy to have a single-stream education system, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He pointed out that though there were certain parties who wanted to abolish Chinese vernacular schools in favour of single-stream education, it was not Barisan’s policy to do so.

“This is not decided by me. It has been decided by our country’s forefathers,” he said during the opening of MCA’s 62nd annual general meeting.

Najib added that Barisan stands for multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious policies and rejects all forms of extremism.

Najib also refuted claims that MCA is a silent partner.

He praised the party for taking a “berhemah” (polite) approach in getting its views across to the coalition.

Referring to street demonstrations, Najib added that “getting heard does not mean shouting outside”, adding that MCA still represents the voice of the Chinese community in Cabinet.

Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) akan kekal, kata Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak hari ini, walaupun terdapat gesaan daripada beberapa kumpulan supaya sekolah vernakular dimansuhkan untuk memberi laluan kepada sekolah satu aliran.

"Ada suara mengatakan kita patut menghapuskan SJKC dan mewujudkan sistem pendidikan satu aliran. Itu bukan polisi Barisan Nasional (BN)," katanya.

"Polisi BN berasaskan pelbagai budaya dan bahasa. Ini yang ditentukan bapa-bapa kemerdekaan kita," katanya ketika merasmikan Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan ke-62 MCA di Kuala Lumpur, hari ini.

Awal hari ini, Presiden MCA Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai berkata, partinya tidak akan membenarkan SJKC ditutup.

"Gesaan untuk menghapuskan sistem ini tidak boleh diterima kerana ia akan merosakkan sistem pendidikan negara.

"MCA kekal dengan pendirian kita dan tidak akan tunduk kepada gesaan menghapuskan SJKC. Isu itu tidak sepatutnya timbul," kata Liow.

Pada 16 September, peserta himpunan "baju merah" yang berdemonstrasi di Kuala Lumpur, menuntut SJKC dihapuskan dengan membawa plakad "Hapuskan SJKC". – 11 Oktober, 2015

Not BN’s policy to abolish Chinese vernacular schools, says Najib (11/10/15)… 

It is not Barisan Nasional’s (BN) policy to abolish Chinese vernacular schools, assured its chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak today.

In delivering his speech at MCA’s 62nd annual general assembly (AGM), Najib reiterated that the party stands for multi-lingualism, multi-racial and multi-culturalism concepts.

“We (Malaysia) are a great source of envy by other countries.

“Those who called for SJKC’s abolishment, now that is not Barisan’s policy,” said Najib here today.

In recent days, following the Red Shirt Rally on Sept 16, there were calls from several parties to abolish Chinese vernacular schools to revive the Malay dignity.

The Prime Minister said the party rejects all forms of violent and racial extremism.

On the recent Bersih 4.0 and Red Shirt rallies, while Najib did not condemn such demonstrations harshly, he instead reminded Malaysians to hold only peaceful assemblies.

“Do not bring buntings bearing racist messages or utter seditious words. Also, do not provoke others or even insult the leaders,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister admitted that there are moments of national unity and national disunity.

“Moments of national disunity might cause tension but we have laws to prevent such incidents from spreading,” he said, referring to the Low Yat Plaza incident that occurred in July this year.

纳吉：国阵绝不消灭华小(11/10/15)…

（吉隆坡11日讯）首相拿督斯里纳吉强调，消灭华小和推行单元教育绝非国阵提倡的政策，多源流教育政策是由建国先贤定下的建国根基。

他指出，国阵支持一切以多元文化、语言、族群以及宗教为主的政策，即由我国建国先贤所主张並一直沿用至今的政策。

他说：「我们长久以来都是以这个（主张多元政策）方向前进，我们在这国家创下了许多事蹟，我们是其他国家羡慕的对象。」

「很多人对我说，『你们很幸运』，许多来自国外的大使也到我国后也爱上这国家，我相信就连中国大使黄惠康博士也不例外。」

纳吉也是国阵主席。他今日为马华代表大会主持开幕致词时，如是指出。

他指出，国阵政府也拒绝一切形式，包括暴力以及种族形式的极端主义，反之会秉持中庸之道来治理国家。

他表示，根据国家团结諮询理事会（NUCC）调查结果，我国在大体上是一个团结的国家，惟偶尔却会出现人民不团结的片刻，故此解决如是问题非常重要。

他也引用马华署理总会长拿督魏家祥比喻「李宗伟对垒林丹」的爱国论，表示国民大体上是团结的，惟依然需要强化。

他说：「就像李宗伟对垒林丹球赛，大马人都会支持李宗伟，我本人也一样，即使无法在现场观赏球赛，我一定会赶回家观赏比赛直播。」

他指出，在当前政治局势，大马作为多元文化及种族的民主国度，人们对各种议题存有不同立场乃是正常的事，故此政府允准人们举办集会表达立场，惟必须和平进行。

「我们允准和平集会，但集会必须拒绝任何人挑起挑衅他人、具有种族主义色彩和耻辱国家领袖的舆论。」

纳吉：国阵需华社当主流伙伴(11/10/15)..

（吉隆坡11日讯）首相拿督斯里纳吉强调，政府需要华人的支持以及华社作为国阵的主流伙伴，以强化国內的政经文教领域的发展。

他说，唯有在各族能够团结一致，才能为推动我国政治以及经济等领域，为国家带来更大发展。

他表示，人们必须相信国阵，因为只有相信国阵政府才能为华社付出更多；惟，政府要马华通过实际行动如聆听华社心声去爭取及贏得华社支持，並非只通过语言行动。

他说：「这是我需要华人的支持，以及华社作为国阵主流伙伴，去推动国內政经文教发展。」

「唯有站在一起，我们才能为这国家创造更多伟大事蹟，这是我今日要向大家传递的讯息。我们不只是活在过去的人，但是在未来，我们能够创造更多成就。」
