MCA Veteran Dato' Yap Pian Hon said the Party must discard its political baggage and start again from Zero in order to revive itself.
Yap, who has served as MCA Vice President for 3 terms, stressed that only by starting again from scratch could the Party recover from its dismal performance in the 13th Genera Elections.
Describing it as a watershed election in which the Party managed to win only 7 out of 37 Parliamentary Seats and 11 out of 90 State Seats contested. Yap said it was high time MCA conducted a thorough study of its policies and came up with new strategies.
"We need a fresh leadership and this will all depend on the delegates' choice during the upcoming Party Elections."
"It is important for the new leaders to lead us from the darkness into the future", he told the New Sunday Times at his office in Seri Kembangan, Serdang.

叶炳汉在马华沙登服务中心办事处向新海峡时报星期刊记者指出，马华过去的政治历史包袱将终结而马华应重新从零开始去重组马华。
叶炳汉曾担任三届马华副总会长之职，他说，马华只能重新的政治起点开始，以挽救马华在第十三届大选的重創局面。
他指出，这是马华政治分水岭，而马华应全面研讨马华的政策，以便寻求新策略面对未来的挑战。
“马华需要新的领导层，但这必须有赖于将举行的党选举中的中央代表的选择决定。更重要的是新领导层应带领党走向未来."
